Learn to Kite in Waves at Belmullet - March 2010 Wave CLINIC with the best WAVE Kiters in Ireland... IKSA starts its first event of 2010 in BELMULLET, Co. Mayo. A place well known for the highest wind stats in Ireland with March being its windiest month. As all wave kiters will tell you, not only is this place wave heaven, but also has some of the best large safe sandy flat kiting spots in Ireland. The IKSA event will be held on the wave beach a few 100 meters down from the UISCE center and on the flat water beach located just across the road to the East. STRAPLESS and UNHOOKED..???... just some of the lingo of WAVE KITING. Those of you who have seen all the news in the magazines and internet must wonder what its all about. Well, IKSA will be running a wave kite clinic on Sat with some of the best wave kiters in Ireland who have been involved in the RhinoWave Event from last year. Info like how to approach a wave, safety tips, boards sizes and leash positioning, how to unhook etc, will be discussed. We also hope to have some kite surfboards to view. This event will also incorporate a SANDY BURGER event for those of you who have had their first few lessons but would like to kite and meet others at the same level. This will be held on the flat water beach, just outside the UISCE center. LSD will also provide an emergency PACKDOWN demo for those a bit rusty on their safety skills. We have an excellent ACCOMMODATION deal with the UISCE CENTER (Fri-Sun EUR90). which is bang right beside the two main kite beaches. Plus if you stay, you can literally walk from the beach into lovely hot showers! The center also offers plenty of non kite activities too check out.....http://uisce.ie Posted by: kyra on Feb 26, 2010 - 08:41 PM

14th, 15th of November - put it in your calendar! Come on up to the Mullet for a great weekend of fun and kiting. Alan Kavanagh and Zumosurf will be providing advice, and demo gear for all the new up and coming wave riders. There will be a wave clinic, presentations on how to surf waves, as well as great advice and information on what kiting and waveriding is all about. We'll have experts on hand to show you all the moves, but its also for beginners, so aspects like safety, and kiting in general. There'll be food and drinks on board, as well as a great deal with UISCE, so we won't have to sleep in our tents! Pub and Nightclub afterwards of course. Here's where Belmullet its at... Here is where UISCE facilities are at... Posted by: Alexis on Nov 10, 2009 - 07:36 PM Read full article: 'Belmullet Event - 14th, 15th of November' (194 more words)

The Irish Kitesurfing Association are running a Sandy Burger beginner event in association with LSD Kiteboarding on the 20th of June. Full details will follow shortly, but keep the date free. The idea of the Sandy Burger events is to help beginners who have had lessons to refresh some of the skills and techniques they may have forgotten. It will also help new kitesurfers meet each other and help to introduce them into the kiting community! It is not a substitute for lessons. This will be a laidback day with a flexible structure. The main focus will be on riders helping out other riders rather than being taught by instuctors. We have two important things to go over and have scheduled them: 1pm - Rules of the Road talk by Eamon Armstrong 2pm - Self landing and Emergency packdown procedure - Peter Armstrong Posted by: Alexis on Jun 15, 2009 - 02:54 PM
Belmullet is going to be the location for the first ever RWC gathering.
Looking at the forecast for Brandon Bay, Magheroarty and Belmullet. Belmullet looks like cross shore to cross on shore winds for Friday and Saturday then onshore for Sunday. Then monday looks perfect conditions for anyone who can stay that long. Gather at Ella Beach. Stock up, pack up and get ready to slash and bash some solid west coast walls. Look out for the Cully and Sully camper van as it will be making its way up to supply us with some nice soups and breads. Drive Carefully, Sea you there. Yeahhhhhh bring it on.
